What to Wear: Black & Brown

What to Wear

Remember that rule about black & brown being a complete fashion suicide! Well, fortunately for us daring fashionistas that rule has been broken. I remember being in high-school and never wanting my blacks & browns to intertwine. Luckily now it is fashionably acceptable!

I paired this leather V -cut skirt with a brown stripped turtle neck. To add some style to this outfit I added some black knee-highs and a black felt hat. The fringe purse pairs nicely with this ensemble giving it a farewell Fall vibe. Lastly I decided on some black combat boots to tie the outfit together. I really enjoy this ensemble because it is the perfect amount of masculine mixed in with some feminine pieces. This outfit is perfect for going out with friends or even to a concert.

One quick change would be to swap the combat boots for a pair of booties like these ones from Nordstrom’s to get a night out look. This will make ones outfit more dressed up and perfect for any night out occasion.

Daisy Delight

What to Wear

Just because the weather drops doesn’t mean one can’t get excited about wearing floral prints! This black daisy print button up makes it acceptable to welcome floral patterns in this winter season. I refuse to give up my lovely floral prints just because there’s a little bit of snow on the ground.

I paired some black skinny jeans with this great short sleeve button up daisy print shirt. The back of the shirt has a great cape like flow to it. To keep my outfit casual and cute I paired my white converse with it giving it a pop with the white in the shirt. Since this outfit gives off a girly skater vibe I decided to pair it with a light pink matte lip color. I think this really makes the outfit pull together giving it a softer look.

To get this look find a pair of your favorite skinny jeans, black or blue, and cuff the edges once or twice for that laid back roll at the bottom. Pair it with some high-top converse like these ones from Zappos, and grab that floral print shirt that you’ve been staring at in your closest! Don’t forget to pair this look with a lighter matte lip color to give it the softness that brings the look together.

What to Wear: Beanie Sensation

What to Wear

Todays weather forecast entails partially cloudy with a chance that I am wearing a beanie. For those of you who no me can agree that I am the queen of hats! Beanies, baseball hats, snapbacks, and many more are some of my favorite pieces to add to my wardrobe.

I paired my favorite blue jean overalls with a slightly oversized flannel. Underneath the overalls I usually throw on a plain or sometimes graphic crop top. I went simple with my navy Vans giving my look a casual vibe. When it comes to picking out the beanie I give this part the most thought. Instead of being completely color coordinated I like to wear a different color beanie that stands out, but also makes sense with the outfit. That is why this mustard yellow beanie fits in perfectly with my navy/green ensemble. To make sure ones outfit stands out add a pop of color with your beanie! Yellow & orange look good with greens and blues and red and purple look good with neutrals.

To get this look all one needs is a basic crop top like the one here from Forever 21. Overalls like these ones from ASOS, some cute shoes like these ones from Vans, a smiler flannel like the one I’m wearing from PacSun, and lastly the most important part a beanie like this one from Zumiez. Now it’s time for you fellow fashionistas to turn heads and incorporate the look yourself!

Cozy Casual in My Corduroys

What to Wear

Can’t get enough of corduroys this Winter. I can’t stress enough how much I love the corduroy skirt look this year! Corduroys have a way of coming and going in between the seasons, especially when it gets colder out. I’m not going to complain though, right when the weather starts to drop I bring out this little article of clothing to warm up my day!

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors this Winter. I love experimenting with different fabrics and colors, you won’t believe how appealing your outfit can be! When pairing colors with neutrals I like to stick to colors that have a pop of earth tones to them. The burnt orange socks to the dark forest green shoes & knit vest make my tan corduroy skirt and blue jean jacket pop with joy! Jean, knit, and corduroy are the 3 different fabrics that I paired together to make this ensemble. Now I know you might be thinking that’s a lot of different fabrics for one outfit. But, the more fabric options you have with corduroy the better ones outfit will transpire.

To finish this look I stuck to a basic brown matte lip. This keeps the outfit casual and put together. If one is feeling daring try an orange matte lip to stand out!

My Darling Pleats

What to Wear

When it comes to fast fashion one can start to get overwhelmed with trends coming and going out of style. Luckily pleats have always been a relevant detail in the fashion industry. This Fall/Winter one will surly notice the big impact that pleats will be having on our big fashion designers. KenzoBlamain, Dior, and many more have been impacted by this subtle, yet playful, detail in their garments as we have seen on the runways.

I paired a cream ribbed knit crop top with a pair of green patterned  pleated skorts. This look is perfect for any occasion! I dressed it up by adding a statement necklace. One could even add a couple of bangles to this outfit. Felt floppy hats are one of my favorite trends this year. They have a way of adding a little bit of attitude to every ensemble! I added booties for this outfit because booties can fit for any day to night occasion. If you are looking for a night out look swap out the booties for a pair of strapy heels like these ones from Nasty Gall. And last but not least find a cute purse to tie the outfit together. I chose something more neutral making the outfit simple so one can add a pop of color to the lips without looking overly dressed. Simplicity is the key to this outfit!

For the pop of color for the lips I went with a fun deep purple almost plum matte lip pencile. This adds a subtle pop of color and maturity to the outfit.Keeping the outfit simple and stylish.

What to Wear: Date Night

What to Wear

Don’t stress just yet! I found it upon myself to help create the perfect date night ensemble for all my fellow fashionistas. Going on first dates can always be stressful, especially when one doesn’t no what to wear! Does one dress up, or go for the casual tomboy look? Dressing up is always the better option, unless one knows what their night entails. But, one must make sure that they are not overly dressed. That is what makes this outfit perfect for any first date!

Start off with a form fitting skirt, personally I prefer the look of a longer skirt. Find an exceptional graphic t-shirt that is flirty yet casual. I picked a Guns N’ Roses crop top that hits where my skirt starts. Since the weather is getting colder in Michigan I threw on a pair of sheer black tights and booties and grabbed my favorite leather jacket. If it’s not cold out I would change the tights and wear an open toed heel for a more sophisticated look. Lastly I chose to incorporate a small leather Chanel purse. A clutch would work just as fine if one doesn’t have something similar.

To pull my outfit together I changed up my lipstick to a vibrant red! It gives this outfit the right amount of color without looking too over done. Don’t be afraid to match a lip color with detail in ones outfit.

Not your Boyfriend’s Jeans

What to Wear

Sick of wearing the same ole skinny jeans? Switch it up with a pair of distressed cut boyfriend jeans! Not only are boyfriend jeans comfy because of the loose fit, they are adorable for every season! If you don’t believe it, take a look at Kylie and Kendall Jenner who make wearing boyfriend jeans seem so effortless and cool.

The fun thing about boyfriend jeans is that you get an easy laid back look without even trying. If you want to dress up your boyfriend jeans, add a pair of heels and watch the outfit transform into a sexy night out look.

I paired my favorite boyfriend jeans from Glicks with an adorable burgundy stripped tank from Pac Sun. To make my outfit stand out, I added some olive green wedges that are from Aldo, along with a great straw hat from TJ MAXX. This look is an everyday look especially if you are running errands or going out for lunch with a group of your girlfriends. If the weather is too chilly for just a tank, throw on an oversized knit cardigan to keep your ensemble looking effortless.

What to Wear: Hipster Cutie

What to Wear

Hipster: “A person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream”.

After reading Google’s definition of a ‘hipster,’ I think it’s safe to say that I fall perfectly right into this category. Urban Dictionary categorizes ‘hipsters’ as men and women who are typically in their 20-30’s who enjoy independent thinking, indie-rock, art, and creativity. Hipsters are also described as people living in the suburbs of New York City, LA, and Chicago. These are the places that most fashion designers look for their street INSPIRATION! Not only are these people fashionably dressed, but they have an unique sense of style that many are trying to imitate.

This outfit screams hipster. From the vintage blazer and purse to the old school high-top converse. Instead of trying to fit in with the everyday crowd, find an outfit that makes you stand out! The blue and mustard yellow, blazer makes you take a second look because it’s something unique that you don’t see people wearing every day. Instead of shopping at your favorite store in the mall, try some place new to achieve this look. My favorite thrift store is GoodWill. Not only are the clothes immensely CHEAP but they add an unique flare that no one else has!

One of my favorite accessories for fall/winter are beanies. Beanies are essentially the masterpiece to my everyday look. You might be thinking, Why?” Beanies mean that I can roll out of bed ten minutes before my class starts and not have to worry about doing my hair. I can’t stress it enough how amazing these knit head warmers are! Pair any colored beanie with an outfit as an accent color and watch your outfit gain some attitude!

As for my lip color choice, I like to stick to darker/natural nudes. This NYX is a soft matte lip cream that feels like your wearing nothing! No matter how many times you accidentally rub your face, the lip color stays on and does not smear!
